You guys, it\u2019s so hard to believe that I\u2019ve been blogging for 5 years! \u00a0My actual \u201cblogiversary\u201d was yesterday, but as I\u2019m sure everyone can relate, the day slipped past me. \u00a0I want to start by saying THANK YOU to each and every one of you who have visited my website throughout the years. \u00a0It\u2019s been such a fun experience sharing my projects with you and hopefully inspiring some of you to either begin your first DIY project, or expand on your skills.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I started this blog to share the projects I was building for my home and serve as a guide for others who were beginning their DIY journey. \u00a0When I got started, we had a very low budget for home improvements and I knew that the only way we were going to be able to fully furnish our home was to build our own. \u00a0I had no idea what I was doing when I first got started and have learned so much throughout this journey.<\/p>\n

The Project That Started It All<\/h2>\n

This project is the one that started it all. \u00a0I built this kitchen island<\/b>\u00a0back in 2013 as a craft table and it served me well for several years before I remodeled the entire room and built my Murphy Bed<\/b>. \u00a0It was the first project I ever built by myself and I learned so much while building it.<\/p>\n

As my skills grew, so did my projects. \u00a0The Murphy Bed<\/strong> I mentioned above was definitely the largest, furniture project I had ever completed and at the time was the most advanced. \u00a0I\u2019d say it\u2019s my favorite, but I swear, it\u2019s hard to choose just one.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve also checked off some major items on my list of home improvement goals, including remodeling my dining<\/strong> room and kitchen. \u00a0I can\u2019t tell you how good it felt to get rid of those granite mountains that made up our backsplash. \u00a0The roof leak and subsequent water damage we discovered during the process was less than pleasant, but it ended up being a blessing in disguise. \u00a0We would have never noticed the leak otherwise.<\/p>\n

I never in a million years expected to be able to work with incredible brands, or turn this hobby into a business. \u00a0I just figured I\u2019d throw a few ads up on my site and hope to make a few dollars each month to go towards my next project. \u00a0I DEFINITELY never expected that my DIY blog would cause me to start up a second business on Etsy, selling kitchen towels<\/strong>. \u00a0It\u2019s amazing how one little craft project over 4 years ago flourished into a new business venture.<\/p>\n

Probably one of the biggest surprises throughout this whole blogging journey has been the friendships I\u2019ve made. I mean, who would think that a bunch of people you meet on the internet would suddenly become some of your closest friends! \u00a0They\u2019ve been there for me during some of my biggest struggles, building blunders, and amazing achievements. \u00a0I definitely couldn\u2019t continue doing this without them.<\/p>\n
