\"ThisHey everyone! \u00a0Remember when I\u00a0installed a pallet wall in my boys\u2019 hallway?\u00a0 I can\u2019t say enough how much I love how it looks! \u00a0My plan has been to create a gallery wall on it with pictures of my boys and other decor, but it still felt like it would be missing something. \u00a0It got me thinking that a narrow table would be perfect for this space. \u00a0Something to balance everything out, and narrow enough that nobody would get hip checked when they walked out of a bedroom. \u00a0I decided to build this simple table. \u00a0It was quick, easy,\u00a0and finishing it was super simple with my\u00a0HomeRight Finish Max. \u00a0By the way, I\u2019m giving away a Finish Max and a\u00a0Spray Shelter\"\"\u00a0at the end of this tutorial, so stick around!<\/p>\n

Before you begin this project, you\u2019ll want to order your table legs. \u00a0These gorgeous legs came from Osborne Wood. \u00a0They\u2019re made of soft maple, and I love their simplicity\u00a0 They fit right in with the modern farmhouse look I\u2019m striving to achieve in my home. \u00a0Whether or not I\u2019m actually succeeding in that is another story.<\/p>\n

\"This<\/p>\n

The first thing you want to do is mark each of the legs 1\/2\u2033 in from the edge. \u00a0This is where the 1\u00d73 pieces will go. \u00a0Also mark 5\u2033 up from the bottom of each of the legs. \u00a0That is where the bottom of the 1\u00d73 pieces will be placed for the bottom shelf.<\/p>\n

\"This<\/p>\n

I built the top of the table first, attaching everything with wood glue and 1 1\/4\u2033 pocket screws. \u00a0Projects like this are always interesting when you\u2019re building them by yourself. \u00a0You pretty much turn into a contortionist trying to keep everything in place while you clamp.<\/p>\n

\"This<\/p>\n

Driving the screws into the 4\u2033 side pieces was a bit of a challenge. \u00a0My impact driver obviously wouldn\u2019t fit, so I tried a ratchet. \u00a0That was taking forever and I was losing my mind. \u00a0Then I picked up this\u00a0off-set adapter\"\"\u00a0and it was exactly what I needed to get the job done. \u00a0It fit perfectly into the narrow space between the table legs. \u00a0If you don\u2019t have one of these, I recommend getting one! \u00a0<\/p>\n

\"This<\/p>\n

Before installing the bottom shelf, I cut the corners out to allow it to fit between the legs. \u00a0You can use a jigsaw, but I love using my\u00a0Blade Runner\"\"\u00a0for stuff like these types of cuts. \u00a0Attach the bottom shelf using 1 1\/4\u2033 pocket screws.<\/p>\n

\"ThisTo attach the top, make sure there is about a 1\u2033 overhang on each end and about 1\/2\u2033 on the front and back. \u00a0Measure this from the legs, not the 1x3s. \u00a0Clamp and attach the top with wood glue and 1 1\/4\u2033 pocket screws.<\/p>\n

\"This<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t know at first what color to paint the table, but thankfully my blogging girlfriends came to the rescue and helped me decide. \u00a0The color I chose is called Indigo Ink. \u00a0It\u2019s part of the Behr Home Decorators Collection at Home Depot. \u00a0It is such a pretty navy color. \u00a0To finish it, I set up my spray shelter and grabbed my\u00a0Finish Max\"\". \u00a0<\/p>\n

\"This<\/p>\n

Typically, I spray the underside first and then flip it over, but I apparently wasn\u2019t thinking straight on this day. \u00a0I sprayed two coats on the base, avoiding the top, and then flipped it over to spray the underside. \u00a0Not painting the top just yet helps to prevent it from sticking to the drop cloth or the wood I place underneath. \u00a0Once I was done with the underside of the table, I flipped it back over and sprayed two coats on the top. \u00a0<\/p>\n

\"This<\/p>\n

Just look at that finish! \u00a0No brush strokes! \u00a0Ever since I got my Finish Max last year, I hardly ever seem to put it down. \u00a0The time it saves me is priceless and the finish is just amazing. \u00a0By the way, I bought this cute printable from WifeInProgressBlog Etsy Shop. \u00a0It\u2019s a great reminder for my boys each morning when they walk out of their rooms. \u00a0The gold jack, plant and ampersand marquee came from Target. \u00a0My husband has been wanting more plants in the house, but this hallway doesn\u2019t get a lot of natural light, so I thought a faux plant would be better. \u00a0Plus I won\u2019t kill it!<\/p>\n

And those legs! \u00a0I want to build a thousand more projects using the gorgeous table legs from Osborne Wood. \u00a0By the way, these are called House Of Wood Tapered Legs. \u00a0They\u2019re named after my friend Jen\u2019s blog. \u00a0You should see the beautiful writing desk she built using these legs.<\/p>\n

I am so happy with this table! \u00a0The color and design are just right and It fits perfectly in this narrow space. \u00a0This area is still a work in progress, but it\u2019s getting there. \u00a0Slow and steady wins the race, right? \u00a0Or at least it prevents me from making too many decorating mistakes.<\/p>\n
