my boys\u2019 rooms. \u00a0Frankly, I was getting tired of their hats being thrown everywhere and not having a place to put some of their little toys and knickknacks, so I built one for each of their rooms. \u00a0I shared the tutorial for building the organizer, but at the time, I had absolutely no clue how to draw up plans. \u00a0A lot has changed in the past two years and now I\u2019ve created a printable set of plans to make building one of these pegboards even easier!<\/p>\n<p>Before you get started, download the plans to get the full materials list and cut list for this project. \u00a0Below are the step-by-step instructions. \u00a0I\u2019ve included affiliate links to some of the products I used, for your convenience.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" frame of the pegboard. \u00a0Cut the frame pieces to size, per the plans. \u00a0For the center divider, measure the distance and cut to size. \u00a0Drill 3\/4\u2033 pocket holes into each end of the top and bottom pieces of the frame, as well as the center divider. \u00a0Also drill pocket holes going downward on the bottom piece of the frame. \u00a0Attach the frame together with wood glue and 1 the bottom shelf of the pegboard with wood glue and attach with 1 1\/4\u2033 pocket screws. \u00a0There should be a 3\/4\u2033 overhang on each side.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" pocket holes into a long edge of a 1\u00d74 for the coat hook backing. \u00a0Glue and clamp the 1\u00d74 backing into place so that the ends of the 1\u00d74 are in line with the sides of the pegboard desired. \u00a0I stained both of the frames with my paint sprayer, which was super quick and easy. \u00a0I then brushed on a few coats of polyurethane.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" waited for the polyurethane to dry, I worked on the magnetic chalkboard. \u00a0I taped off a 1\/2\u2033 border on the sheet metal and then rolled on two coats of chalkboard paint.<\/p>\n<div chalkboard paint was dry, I centered the sheet metal over the smaller side of the pegboard frame and glued it in place with Elmer\u2019s ProBond. \u00a0I weighed down the edges with scraps of wood and purchase a 2\u2032 x 2\u2032 square of pegboard, but I happened to have some leftover from another project, so I cut down my pieces using my Kreg Rip-Cut. \u00a0I centered the pegboard pieces over the backs of the frames and attached them with wood glue and 5\/8\u2033 brad nails.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2457\" space the coat hooks on the 1\u00d74 backing piece and attach them with 1\/2\u2033 screws.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2458\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/addicted2diy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/how-to-attach-pegboard-to-wall.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>To hang the pegboards onto the boys\u2019 walls, I attached D-ring hangers to the backs of the pegboards on each top corner. \u00a0I measured 4 inches down for the top to make sure they were in identical spots. \u00a0To attach them to the wall I used drywall anchors (because God forbid we ever find a stud when we need one) and 1 3\/4\u2033 screws. \u00a0The longer screws will stick out from the wall by about 1\/2\u2033 and will give the necessary gap needed to hang hooks and baskets from the pegboard.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2459\" actually really like it for an organizer in the office! \u00a0You can write important notes on the chalkboard and even attach notes or receipts with magnets. \u00a0From the pegboard, you could hang office or crafting essentials, plus the hooks make a great place to hang keys, jackets, etc.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2461\" rooms. \u00a0They are able to keep their sunglasses, hats, headphones, etc. all in one place. \u00a0The chalkboards are a great place for them to doodle and they usually like to change up their drawings based on the seasons. \u00a0My youngest, though, still has a bear decked out in a Santa hat and gifts on his. \u00a0He doesn\u2019t like change very much, so he refuses to erase it.
